Well I'm a host hostess um I basically greet the guests that come in I set them wherever they need to be seated depending on the section of whose serving um you know I bust the tables wipe them down I spot sweep the dining area um it's pretty much if I roll silverware and I help out the servers if they need help it's pretty relaxed it's a sports bar, so you know sometimes people come in and just sit themselves or move tables and yeah it's just part of the atmosphere like you wouldn't see that out of 5-star restaurant but because it's a sports bar it's okay you know we have our moments where it's really slow, but then you know people get out of class at a certain time, so then it's like a big rush of people coming in well I would come in um let's say it's the opening shift I would come in set up my little station put out menus I'll make sure there's enough silverware ruled I'll check to see who's the server on staff in all assigned sections um there's a like a little bored in the mill and the podium for the host stand, and you know all the servers I write down all the information for the server so if I'm not available they can see what tables they have um and yeah I mean that's pretty much it in the entire time I'm just greeting sitting cleaning up, and then I leave when the next host comes in I just asked her what she needs or him and then mother yeah well I applied online you have the option of applying in person or online um, and they called me I believe within two weeks, and I was interviewed right there at the restaurant um you know they ask you like the basic questions like your experience what are your weaknesses our strengths what are you like um and yeah after that I mean it took two weeks to get everything going you know the background check and all that and I started within two weeks of getting you the interview definitely your experience they ask you what are your strengths and your weaknesses you know they ask you stuff like what would you do in a certain situation or yeah I don't know that's pretty much it Oh wear slacks um dress shoes I'm not a hill person so don't wear heels I want to wear a nice shirt if it's sleeveless I'll wear like a cardigan on top I'll have a purse I usually don't carry them but for interviews I do um I mean you can bring a resume if you want to but for entry-level positions is really not necessary um don't be intimidated you know hosting is not tough if you want to get into the restaurant business hosting is a way to get in you know now I'm starting to move into serving um and yeah if you want to be a server this way to go host
